Since 1889
The Mersen Group
Mersen’s roots lay in a technology that was about to play a decisive role in the coming electrical revolution : carbon arc rods. These would illuminate public spaces and large department stores from the 1870s.
As the electrical industry evolved, Mersen adapted, becoming a key supplier of carbon brushes for electric motors, essential for power transmission in countless applications. The merger of Maurice Lacombe's and Fabius Henrion's companies in the early 20th century marked a significant milestone, creating a robust entity that would grow into the Mersen Group known today. This union not only expanded the company's capabilities but also solidified its position as a leader in electrical components and advanced materials, setting the stage for over a century of innovation and growth.
Mersen adopts a strategic approach to acquisitions, focusing on enhancing its technological capabilities and expanding its market presence. Emphasizing due diligence and integration, the company ensures that each acquisition aligns with its long-term goals and strengthens its core competencies. Recent notable acquisitions include:
- GMI group: Adding volume and transformation capacities of graphite and insulation
- Americarb's Production Lines: A significant move in enhancing flexible felt production capabilities.
- Fusetech Full Capital Purchase: Marked Mersen's expansion in Hungary, furthering its geographical and technological reach.
- Gab Neumann: Aimed at strengthening Mersen’s position in the chemicals market in Germany.
These acquisitions underscore Mersen's commitment to growth and innovation in its field.
Mersen's corporate culture is deeply rooted in responsibility and ethical development. This culture is not merely a recent trend but a long-standing commitment, reflecting Mersen's dedication to sustainable growth and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Key elements of this culture include:
- Environmental and Social Responsibility: Mersen integrates environmental and social criteria into its product and service procurement processes, and strive to limit the environmental impact of its sites and mitigate climate change effects.
- Focus on Human Capital: Promoting equality and diversity, Mersen values its human capital, considering it a foundational pillar of the company. This approach includes developing and consolidating a culture of health, safety, and ethical compliance within the organization.
Mersen's corporate culture emphasizes ethical conduct, environmental stewardship, and a strong focus on human capital, underpinning its sustainable and responsible approach to business
